The machine Learning is a branch of artificial intelligence that creates programs capable of generalizing behaviors from the information provided in the form of examples, thus encouraging their automatic learning.

Among the types of Machine Learning (ML) is the supervised one, where the data supplied includes the desired solution called “labels” and thus helps in its classification. Another type of ML that we can find is the Non-Supervised Learning, where the algorithm will try to classify and decipher the information by itself. Finally we can recognize the Learning by reinforcement where a system that works autonomously is created, an “unknown” space is assigned to it and it determines the actions that are taken there by trial and error.

What are the most common applications of Machine Learning?

Below I will give you a short list of the most common segments where today we can achieve this type of technological advances, although it is a relatively new branch, its great contribution to companies will generate that in the coming years this is one of the markets of greater growth.

  1. Image Recognition: to achieve this, various algorithms are used to understand images by grouping sets of continuous pixels where each one carries information about the color that it has to illuminate, thus allowing to detect people or things inside the images.
  2. Speech Recognition: From the sound waves that are synthesized by the microphone of your computer or smartphone the Machine Learning algorithms are able to detect your language and understand the orders you give them.
  3. Health: The Learning Machine must predict within a database of patients if it is possible that any person may suffer from a specific disease.
  4. Motors of recommendation: Automatic learning applications with algorithms are used to determine if your profile is similar or not to another and thus may have the same tastes, offering products or services that you may need later. This type of ML you can see when Netflix recommends a series or movie or when you choose a product in Amazon and automatically the system offers you another that may also interest you.

Machine Learning can also be applied to finance, games, audience segmentations and many other fields, thus helping to offer better services or specialized products for a specific market.

And you use some type of Machine Learning in your daily life?
